Challenging Racism: Learning HowChallenging Racism: Learning How is our flagship program of six or eleven sessions that provides participants deeper content as well as storytelling, relationship building, self-reflection, and development of skills in listening and in conducting difficult conversations.
|
Guided by two trained facilitators, we work with groups of 16 to engage in conversations on race and racism. Stories both connect the group of participants and provide windows into the lived experiences of others. The environment is safe for risk-taking, supports both discomfort and using discomfort to grow.
Each participant receives an easy-to-use workbook with readings, activities, journals and an appendix of resources. Trained facilitators are supported by a detailed curriculum handbook. These materials were honed by a diverse team of facilitators (two African-American, two Latinas, one Chinese-American and three white) in 17 conversations over many years. Challenging Racism’s Learning to Lead training ensures that our Facilitators are all well-grounded in the curriculum and its applications. |

There is no perfect conversation; the important thing is to keep talking.
I know that I should ask and answer questions until I understand
what the other person means.
